![]() Below Zero we know there are an infinite number of things that shine in the darkness below.
The heat of the day was still present, just .... not as thoroughly, much to her relief. The sun had finished setting not too long ago, and now, the mare was making her way to the shining, beckoning beacon of light that she had been informed was the source of Accord's own abilities in this land, which meant, it was the place she needed to approach for her own potential answers for the secrets she wished to unlock from within herself - that is, her very magic. Her gaze is hopeful, her own glow growing stronger as the darkness stretches over the land, activating the chemicals in her pelt that caused the glow. She didn't know what would come of this journey, but . . . Bel was rarely with out hope. Hope was her driving fact, it is what pushed her forward. It was the leap of faith to leave her home and search for a better world, a world that wasn't just live, birth and die. A people who were so afraid of death, they had forgotten how to live. Bel craved the feeling of being alive . . . and her hope had been the foundation she needed, and it helped with the heartache still in her heart. The one that could strike her down to her knees if she ever allowed herself to really think on the past. On Shard chasing her down when she went to leave. Her pleas for him to cross that chasm, to reach out to her - to finally be the one making the efforts - instead of her always having to meet him. He'd taken that first step until his father's bellow, reminding the man he had a duty to the pod had echoed around them like a warhammer. Their fragile bond, that precious mates bond her people form with their one and only still in such a disarray from his father's interference. Both knew what would happen if Shard turned his back on her . . . The way it would shatter both of them . . . so Bel took the decision out of his hand . . . and she had been the one to leave, he had a duty, one that the pain and the blame, the guilt couldn't get in the way of. She knew he would always choose the pod. Always. So she had been the one to break it, the one who had tried for so long. The backlash was less, the pain lessened then if he had snapped it himself . . . and it kept the blame from interfering with his honor bound roll as the leader of the pod. She would continue to carry the pain alone. It had lessened with time, it always would, a way for her heart to grieve, to prepare to heal both emotionally and mentally before she'd be ready to search for a new mate . . . but today, the memory of the man still brings a rush of pain, how he had begged her to come home with him - but he had never crossed the chasm to her, to put her first, to chase her, like he used when they were foals. She wonders if he would be proud of her now. If he would acknowledge the distance had been necessary. Would he thank her for taking the responsibility, the guilt from him? Would he condemn her for not trying harder [no matter the fact she was trying to the state of notable neglect from a mate that was just never home]? Or would his father have finished brainwashing him into seeing her and her ideas as dangerous. Abnormal. A mare not afraid, who is strong, eager to take on the world, to prove there is more to life than fear. She wanted more in life than that, and so she approached the obelisk, that is said to be the central point of the Guardian's sanctuary, "I do not know you, and you do not know me. But I come asking for assistance regardless. I am Below Zero, daughter of -" She pauses and she feels Yuki's reassuring touch, the serpent snuggled against her back and spine, and she smiles, forgoing the claiming of the pod in the arctics, "Daughter of the Lost Planet of Iutune, and I am told; Guardian, that you are the one who can help me unlock the magic within myself." The glowing mare smiled kindly, warmly as she stepped towards the crystal, into the waters of the oasis, where her smiling reflection looked back up to her, "I am meant to do more than just run and hide, and wait to die. My people where once proud before we had to abandon our home world. We were warriors, champions, defenders of the seas and oceans - and all of her inhabitants . . . I want to find that inner strength once more. I want to be someone my ancestors can smile down upon. Please . . . Guardian, help me?" that long ago vanished into myth. Thoughts @ Enabran Notes: Finally got her magic finished, so time to get magic! Requests Template

Guardian of Accord
The pearl of death: Below Zero must venture to the treacherous northern sea around Nyamene Isle and find the large, perfect pearl that once claimed the life of an overzealous adventurer. When she finds the pearl and the adventurer's remains, she may do what she feels is appropriate with the pearl (including keeping it for herself) and/or the remains.
Enabran - the man - understood intimately the ache of seeing his place in the heart of another, of wanting desperately to be accepted, to be chosen, and being shown through the silence or inaction of another that his love was greater than theirs. His need was greater than theirs. His had not been a lover, but his father. His father, who watched him suffer every day in silence, then watched him leave, and did nothing at all. As she spoke, gaze downturned toward the rippling reflection of her face in the still waters of the oasis, the Guardian Crystal listened. Accord heard her words and the dreams and fears packed tightly into the spaces between those words, and as it glowed more brightly with a harmonic hum that seemed almost to permeate every fiber of the air, the earth, the water into which she confessed her deepest desires, a second reflection slipped into view alongside her own: a stallion, lithe, velvet-blue as a starlit night, crowned with silver, and limned in prisms of light that danced across the water's surface and fluttered like motes of dust in crystal's beryl light. "I understand," Accord said quietly, and for a moment he said nothing more than that. In that understanding he poured his acceptance, both of her fear - which the mortal half of him shared like an intimate secret - and of her desire. "I will aid you in finding within yourself the strength that you seek, but know this:" He tilted his head toward hers, copper eyes warm and bright with a love that was beyond the capacity for Enabran alone to share - the self-same love that the Allmother had shown him in his moment of weakness, radiating through him from the guardian crystal from whence Accord's power came. Accord spoke softly, his words barely rising above the sharing of a secret sub rosa, and they echoed with the certainty of a divine truth. "You are enough, Below Zero. Exactly as you are - when you grow stronger - when your heart is bursting with the love of others - or should you ever find yourself paralyzed with fear or loneliness or despair. You will always be enough." He turned back to the water and closed his eyes pensively, letting the message rest before continuing. "Far to the north, deep in the frigid waters surrounding Nyamene Isle, a seeker of adventure once tirelessly scoured the depths for a single large, perfect pearl. They found the object of their desire, but drowned before they could bring it with them to the surface. They still remain there on the ocean floor, their remains curled lovingly around the pearl that cost them their life." A tragedy, perhaps, of the greed and hubris of mortals. Or perhaps an opportunity to succeed where others before have not. "The perilous waters of the northern sea will test your strength and your resolve. Find the pearl. Do with it what you feel is right - for the pearl, for the hunter, or for yourself - but find it. And when you return, I will grant you the power you desire." @ Below Zero | Once completed, respond to this post with a link to the thread(s) and a short (1-2 sentence) synopsis. ![]() Below Zero we know there are an infinite number of things that shine in the darkness below.
He had been kind when he had approached, the stallion that must be the guardian of this land, his voice quiet when he had merely assured her he understood. She didn't respond right away, wondering if it was the guardian or the man speaking, before he tells her he will aid, but to know something - and she meets his gaze with out hesitation, dual sets of cyan to focus on copper when he speaks gently that she is already enough - that she will always be enough. Her eyes well up with saline, a weak, frail smile touching her muzzle at his assurances. Is it proper to bury your face in the mane of your guardian? Bel doesn't care and briefly she presses her forehead against his neck in gratitude, hearing those words she would never have thought possible to hear. Is this why people turn to gods? Rely on their strength and endless love? "Thank you." She breaths, and she's pulling back, away from him just as quickly as she demonstrates physically the depth those words shook her. How much she'd needed to hear them. And then he speaks again, of the far north and frigid waters - and a single perfect pearl that had led to death, that she was to find the pearl, and do as she saw fit - for the pearl, the hunter, herself. And to return when the task was complete. And so she nodded, her gaze determined at the task on hand, "I will." And she does. She returns days later, breathing a little rapid from the speed she had transversed from the most Northern part of the ocean, to the Crystal of Accord, but her mood was bright, delighted even, and Yuki was curled around her neck, the faithful serpentine necklace, as the mare approached the crystal, "I have returned, Accord." She greets the crystal, and the man she knows to be bound by it (even if she doesn't know his name - she realizes). Oh well, Her fluke is flat, and the air around her is cooled by the vapors trailing from her spine as she smiles at the crystal gently, "You said to do as I felt was right . . . and so, both the keeper of the pearl, and the pearl herself have been put to rest . . . . And the one who has been guarding the two in their death embrace can finally know peace that they have been put to peace. The pearl was never any one else's to take, she had been found by another already - so I can only hope that the hunter of the pearl will rest soundly, buried below the ground where he can be with the pearl, and not risk someone stealing it from him in his eternal slumber." The dame states, a bow to her head in respect as she tells her story, but the smile she wears showing the fact that she feels she did right. By herself, by the hunter, by the protector of the hunter and pearl - and most importantly, by the ocean. that long ago vanished into myth. Thoughts @ Enabran Notes: Quest - Bel has found the keeper and the pearl, and has put both of them to rest, where they may find peace.
