There are four Guardians who protect Mythos and guide its growth at any given time:
Guardian of Conduct: Historically, this Guardian places great emphasis on order. They understand the importance of a just and fair society and are not opposed to handing out punishment as they see fit. This Guardian frowns upon any breaking or bending of the laws and norms of Mythosene society and has been known to remember even the smallest infractions to bring them up years later. It is well known that the Guardian of Conduct favors intelligence over many other traits.
Guardian of Strife: Historically, duty and strength are of the utmost importance to this Guardian. They expect to be respected and are not opposed to delving out punishment (whether appropriate or not) if they deem they have been disrespected. With a commanding presence, this Guardian has never shied away from conflict or war, and will generally hold those with a similar demeanor in high regard.
Guardian of Accord: With a knack for creating harmony between the Mythosene people and the land, the Guardian of Accord has long fostered peace across all of Mythos. While not always successful, this Guardian has never faltered in their desire to heal those who need healing and guide those who find themselves lost. Sturdy and level-headed, they are the perfect opposite of the much more volatile Guardian of Strife.
Guardian of Twilight: Denizens of Twilight arose with the shattering of the Allmother's Crystal during the Solstice of Sorex, year 302 (OOC Y1). Their Guardian is the bearer of a Crystal shard that still brims with power. Twilighteans live deep within the Grotto, carrying with them a Boon of Twilight, granting them a buff of strength while within their cavern homes. Twilightean followers seek out their current Guardian to petition for quests.
* As of Volume III: The Land of Light, the Guardian of Twilight has been legitimized by the Allmother and stands equal to the other three Guardians.
Children of the Allmother: Children of the Allmother do not fit into any particular category as a disciple of a Guardian. As such, they are expected to commune with the Site of the Allmother. In these instances, staff are responsible for answering communes and quest requests.
To enter Mythos, each character is required to have a patron Guardian. However, it’s up to you to decide just how engaged they are with their Guardian. They can follow their Guardian’s beliefs as closely as possible or not at all. They can change Guardians at any time. A safe rule of thumb is to select the Allmother as your character’s patron Guardian upon entering if you are unsure which to choose, as she acts as the catch-all for Mythosene society.
