She is as soft as the early morning light.
Aspen's words are most often honey sweet and gentile.
Despite her soft demeanor she is not someone to be trifled with. There is a fire that lives deep in her chest and too easily can it be brought to a raging inferno.
She is adventurous, the desire to go out and explore is one that rests deep in her bones.
Aspen is a healer by nature and wishes to mend the wounds of those she knows whether they be physical or mental.
Aspen was born to a loving family. A mother and father who doted on her. A large assortment of siblings who, despite the chaos they enjoyed creating, loved on another deeply.
Her history is filled with change and leaving. Her family never stayed in one place for two long. They couldn't. Not when the darkness followed them like a plague.
Aspen had always been a child of light. Of laughter and smiles. But her siblings had been different. Her sister was plagued with shadows. With a past that clawed at the family like a starving animal. And there had been no rest for them. Try as they might, they could never outrun that darkness.
It haunted the siblings like a ghost. There was death. Destruction. Hatred. All left in their wake.
Despite the dark cloud over the family, Aspen flourished into a young woman. She took to her mother's profession, a physician, and thrived on the sweetness of saving someone's life.
But, as her family finally settled for the first time in her life, Aspen began to feel herself grow weary.
Her bones ached for adventure. For the smell of new air. And so, she left their farmhouse and the family she had so long been tied to. In the hopes that she might feed the hunger in her belly for new sights and new experiences.
Boon Magic (thanks to the SWP): Clairvoyance
Aspen can see bits and pieces of the future. They come to her like pieces of a puzzle that she has to put together.
She must sit in silence and meditation in order to receive them (or they are simply thrown from the ether to her in her mind but this makes them much harder to interpret).
These pieces she receives depend on many different things. Something simple might be changed and thus affect the entire outcome. However, if she follows the thread carefully Aspen can tend to get at least a vague understanding of what might come to pass.
Primary
Healing Aura
Current level: Sage
Aspen’s abilities as a healer have grown tenfold thanks to the blessings of Accord.
She can now sense sicknesses from miles away. The ties which lead her to the sick are much stronger now and are less likely to become tangled if there are many strands. If there is a certain sickness she is looking for she is able to sniff it out for those that are close enough to her. When around those that are sick, as long as there are less than five Aspen can sense who is sick with what without becoming confused.
Cuts and gashes are minor fixes now, even when they go deep enough to hit bone. Her magic is able to sew sinew and muscle back together with just a touch of golden light. It does not pain the patient, only tingles as everything is sewn back together. Broken bones are also an easy fix, no matter the thickness.
Non-physical ailments, such as headaches and colds and flues can be cured by her magic as well. A common cold and headache can be cured with a touch. Flues and constant migraines may need more attention but she can give the sufferer relief.
Aspen has also been granted the ability to sniff out curses which affect one’s body. She can sense whether the ailment is natural or from a curse. She has a heightened ability to give relief from ailments gotten by curses, though she cannot yet completely heal the curse and will need to continually work with the person with the curse.
Aspen is now able to put her magic into other things. This means she can make a healing tea for someone who suffers from chronic headaches or an herb bath for someone with chronic pain or a salve for a warrior who tends to get cut up. These are able to lessen the effects of the ailment, but do not completely get rid of them like the magic straight from her would do.
Next level: Mythic
Aspen and her magic are now completely entwined. Her magic is the blood in her veins. The breath in her lungs. It is who she is.
Mending broken bones and lacerations, curing the common cold, and mending a migraine is as simple as a touch. Even the worst breakage of bones can be righted by the golden light of her magic. Now, she does not even need to come into contact with the person who is sick. She can simply speak healing words into the air and they will be carried by a golden, healing, light which will affect the intended character.
Aspen’s ability to detect curses has grown stronger. She can now sense, specifically, how the curse is affecting someone. If the curse is only rooted in a sickness or ailment, Aspen can unravel it. This will take her some time and research. She will have to spend time with the cursed equine and work through the curse with them with her magic, but it can be cured (of course only if the character and writer wish it to be).
Aspen can sense sickness, whether it be physical or non-physical, within a realm. They reach out from her like threads tied to those who wear the ailments. She can pick through the strands and follow them to those who she wishes to aid. Within a crowded area Aspen will be able to pinpoint the ailment she is searching for and who it is affecting.
Aspen’s ability to imbue her magic into tonics and other items has grown ten-fold. She can now make almost foolproof ‘potions’. These are created in the form of salves to help a wound heal, smelling scents for someone who suffers chronic migraine, tea for someone who often has an upset stomach. These concoctions will not be as strong as if she was with the character personally. However, they will do their intended job for those who cannot be with her constantly.
Secondary
Light manipulation
Current level: Sage
Aspen has become well versed in her control of her light magic.
Aspen can now use the light of the sun OR the light of the moon with her magic.
The parts which Aspen can make have grown in complexity and size. She can create something up to her own size in light, though things that large are not sentient. She can form wagons with working wheels, bridges to cross streams and small rivers, and more.
Aspen’s balls of light have now become sentient wraiths. Think the ice wraiths in Elder Scrolls. They have minds of their own but listen to her as she directs them. They can grow up to the size of a watermelon and act on their own.
Aspen can now manipulate the light in other objects quite well. She can snuff out candles of their light quite easily. She can also make lighted objects appear more bright, by 20 watts. She can make an area of about a football field appear more or less lit (more shaded or less).
Aspen can now use the light she produces in her own magic. This means if she is in a completely dark room with no light she can use the glow she produces as magic. But, her skills are reduced by half when this occurs.
Aspen’s aesthetic magic has only grown. She shimmers as if she is the sun herself. Glows brilliantly at all times. She can choose to brighten or dim the light she displays. Her golden eyes also give off a vibrant golden light. The light cascading from her eyes in a sort of golden haze.
Next level: Mythic
Aspen has become one with golden light. She exudes it. Golden when her moods are light and a sharp silver when her mood turns. Her body is bathed in golden hues and her blood is a gilded ichor.
Aspen can bend both the golden light of the sun and the silver light of the moon to perform her magic.
Aspen has become an engineer of the light she weaves. Most things within her imagination she can create. Bridges, walls, armor, swords, bows and arrows, and more, can all be crafted with ease. She can create intricate designs as well - delicate jewelry made of light and working gears.
Aspen can now breathe life into the creations she makes of light. The medium sized wraiths are her favorite creations she makes (think ice wraiths in Skyrim). However, she can now make more specific creatures. Butterflies, wolves, and other realistic animals can be crafted with ease. On the rare occasion wyverns and a few other mystical animals made of light may be crafted by her magic.
The light around her is the woman’s fuel and her puppet. This means that Aspen can manipulate the light of things around her. Candles can be turned from dim to brilliant in just a few seconds. Campfires can be brought to a vibrant show or can be snuffed out. She can make a cloudy day seem bright and a bright day seem dim to those near her.
Aspen can now be found within the darkest room and use the light she exudes to power her magic.
Tertiary magic
oracle of the void
current level: Sage
Aspen’s connection to the void continues to grow. She is ever connected to it. Hears the voices through the veil as if they are whispers. She is able to pick through them, listen to those she wishes to hear and block out those she doesn’t, though that is not always a perfect science. She no longer needs to have known the person to connect and listen to them.
When Aspen speaks to them those in the veil understand. The meanings of her words are hardly ever garbled now. And when they speak, they speak back in words and not pictures. Sometimes these words get jumbled, but it has become easier for her to piece them together.
Those in the veil can speak to her freely about the past, anything they have personally experienced. Some, though she finds it hard to find those who know of the future, can speak to her about things which MIGHT happen five years into the future.
The space between her and the veil is beginning to tear. She can delve into it for up to an hour now. Though she fears she may become lost if she goes too long or too far. While inside the veil everything is different. Twisted. And she doesn’t know if what she is seeing and hearing is true or false.
Next level: Mythic
For Aspen, the void is no longer hidden. There is no shroud between this world and the next. She can transverse both sides as easily as breathing.
Aspen is ever connected to the void and those who live within it. She can hear their whisperings constantly. And the shouts of those who wish to scream. However, she is able to drown them out when she wants to mute out the noise (sometimes they can still break through).
When Aspen wishes to connect to those of the void she can send out a call and those who hear her will answer. She can make this calling direct, sending it to a specific soul. But, it is up to that soul on whether or not they wish to answer her.
When she speaks with the void souls there is no longer confusion. Her words are clear and concise and her meanings are not lost in translation. The void souls can speak back to her with ease as well. Though whether or not they can truly make sense of what they want to say depends on their state of mind and how long they have been in the void.
Those in the void can speak to her of their past freely, whatever they have lived they can tell her. They can also tell her what they believe *might* happen in the future. But this is circumstantial at best.
Aspen can now go through the veil into the void. She cannot live here, it cannot sustain her, but she can visit. One day at a time is normally the most she can stand to stay in the void without getting her thoughts jumbled. Longer than three days and she runs the risk of being lost within the void.
The void still tries to trick her while she is within its grasp. But she has become more adept at seeing the truth of what is being shown to her.
